Batting 1000

Believe it or not, I enjoy watching baseball. It's likely because it's a sport that I can follow and understand without having to ask the person next to me "what happened."

My favorite way to watch baseball is live. A little league, middle school, high school, or professional game in live action excites me. Now, there are a few "boring" moments when the pitches are coming slowly, no runs scored, or no runners stealing bases. But then there are the moments when the hitter steps up to the plate with two outs and he's on his second strike....then he hits a homeroom and brings his team to victory.

I've been thinking that my life is much like a baseball game lately. In the same way the game has its boring moments-no hits, no runs, no scores-life, particularly my life sometimes feels like nothing is happening. But if the game ended then, we wouldn't get to the exciting part of hitting a game winning homeroom or throwing the runner out at home base at just the right moment. I wonder how many times that young man had to strike out before his skilled developed and he was able to hit the ball over the fence. I wonder how many times the pitcher accidentally hit a player or walked players to load the bases before he was able to pitch a shut out game!

I don't play baseball, but I do have goals. They seem unrealistic, but I believe that if I keep swinging my bat, that ball is going over the fence.

So my blog engagement may have decreased or I may not have enough TikTok followers or likes or I may have only sold a handful of my Breast Cancer journals, but at just the right moment-I'm going to bat a perfect game and I will look back at all these stats as practice.

Stay tuned...
