GRAYce in the Details

They say when a woman changes her hair, she's about to change her life!

For me, changing my hair has been more of a routine than a life altering moment or statement. Sometimes, it's because I've made an impulsive decision to get a new haircut and if my stylist is available on the day of the impulse, I take it as a sign that it was meant for me to get that haircut. There was one time I "acted out" the day after Brice moved to college his first semester. And then there are times when it’s just routine maintenance because the gray started graying.

Well, I had recently started keeping my hair pretty short after I was forced to cut it due to it literally falling out in my hands. [Read "Mona" for those details.]

Every now and again, I'll ask my sister to cut it down a little so it's easier for me to wear it slick. Well, she wasn't available the last time I wanted a trim so I took the scissors to my own hair, which I've done before, but after a couple of snips, I stopped because I had a better idea.

I was going to the barbershop.

I knew that would mean that the blonde would be cut and the mask would be off. I didn't care. When I have an idea, I can't rest until I get it done. Some call it bossy or being a control freak, but I call it ambition.

I had decided that if the boys' barber had an opening the next day, then it was happening. He said come at 4pm, then text an hour later and said 2pm. It was obviously meant to be, right.

So I did it...well he did. He made me the bad baldie I have aspired to be and he even cut a part because ... why not?!

So allow me to reintroduce my hair... her name is Mona... Mona Grey! She has graduated to a full name. I will rock this gray streak for as long as I can take it, but I'm sure I will continue getting styled my our barber because it's just hair!
