Educator. Est. 2007

I mentioned in my first blog that I "fell" into education. In that same "Fired Principal" blog, I shared that it's had its ebbs and flows.

None of my leadership opportunities would have been possible if my first principal hadn't taken a chance on me. I interviewed on a Friday afternoon with a Master's degree and a heart to teach. No certification, no formal experience, seeking a career change with a commitment to perfect what it took to be an effective teacher. He obviously saw something in me because the next day, he called and offered me a 7th grade Social Studies teaching position!

I taught ten years at that same school. The friendships that were forged still have a stamp on my heart. We celebrated our kids' milestones, weddings, and other personal wins. We shared secrets, supported each other through divorces and the loss of a dear friend. I loved everything about my first ten years as an educator.

One of my proudest accomplishments was directing the VolDolls Danceline for five years. It was so graciously passed to me after the previous director had coined the team with that special name that they still hold today.

But like all things, change is inevitable, and I eventually wanted to explore other opportunities.

There is no place like PJH and there would have been no Principal Webster without that experience.
